中東や中南米などマニアックかつ素晴らしい発掘でニュートーンもイチオシのベルギーのレーベル〈Radio Martiko〉。そのサブレーベル的存在でエジプトの60sに焦点を当てた〈Souma Records〉からリリースされた、60s エキゾチック・ラブソング &インストゥールメンタルのコンピレーション。

プロモで聴かせてもらってすっかり魅せられてしまったエジプト60sのコンピレーション。1959年に民間のレコード会社として設立され60年代半ばにエジプト政府の管理へと移ったエジプト最大のレコード会社SONO CAIROからのライセンス。「カイロが中東の活気ある文化の中心であり、一流オーケストラの壮麗さが比類ないものであった時代の豊かな音楽の肖像」。アメリカのジャズやラテン音楽にも影響を受けているであろう、エチオピア、服部良一やカンボジアのポップス黄金期にも通じるようなエキゾチックでリッチなサウンド「60年代カイロの華やかなナイトライフへといざなう」。すべて７インチでリリースされていた音源のリマスター再発2018年リリース。そのほかにもRadio Martikoのバックカタログ、過去にも入荷していた名作や今回初となる入荷もいくつか(どれも魅力)ストックしています。是非チェックしてみてください。 (サイトウ)
