MPC grooves meet modular textures downtown on Mr Beatnick's "Joy in Variation", his third album, following on from "The Synthetes Trilogy" (2013) and "Honeycomb" (2020). Sixth and final single Joy In Variation is the title track and album opener, and finds Beatnick on fine form with a warm and slickly executed club cut, which blends uplifting strings and soulful synth changes with unpredictable polyrhythmic patterns over a steady disco beat.
