A chilling sci-fi film directed by John Boorman. More of an acid movie in the vein of Caligula than straight sci-fi. Sean Connery's costume, as a man who stumbles onto the secret of the mysterious future megalith civilization Zardoz, is a sight to behold (lol). Charlotte Rampling's gloomy sensuality is deadly too, and the shambolic feel of the second half is irresistibly charming. But what really burns itself into your eyes is the diabolical presence of the giant stone god, Vortex. Watch it on a big screen and children will go into convulsions. A bogeyman movie to shut up kids who won't listen.
