Francesco Tristano is a young pianist who moves freely between classical and techno. Born in Luxembourg in 1981, he entered the Juilliard School in New York in 1998, where he earned his master's degree. In 2004 he took first prize at the Orléans International Piano Competition for 20th-century music, a contemporary music competition held in France every two years. At the same time, he has also performed with Carl Craig, one of the leading figures of Detroit techno, and with Moritz von Oswald, an originator of minimal techno. His new trio is Khalifé Schumacher Tristano. Khalifé Schumacher Tristano brings together Pascal Schumacher, Luxembourg's foremost vibraphonist, Lebanese-born percussionist Bachar Khalifé, and Francesco Tristano.
