This record is a collection of pieces performed on the Carbophone, a homemade electroacoustic instrument built in the summer of 2015 based on the concept of the African thumb piano (kalimba, mbira). Eight tracks in all, grooving in a warm analog atmosphere — uniquely refined, minimal, otherworldly and mysteriously dubby. At times you catch a whiff of Southeast Asia, Indonesia and gamelan; at others, an exotic experimental pop that shares something with the world of The Residents.
