Bowes Road Band
The HCA
JAKARTA /- Cat No: JAKARTA185-1
- updated:2023-11-28
Recorded in 1972 by four students at Hornsey College of Art (HCA), the now-defunct London art school, and originally pressed in an edition of just 50 copies, this psychedelic, folky collage art-rock/jazz-rock holy grail was built out of thoughtful experimentation and deliberate rule-breaking by non-musicians. Now remastered and reissued on vinyl LP as a joint release from JAKARTA RECORDS and UNO LOOP RECORDS.

The only album by the Bowes Road Band. Pressed in just 50 copies, this LP was unearthed at a Berlin flea market, which is what led to this reissue. Six tracks in which the fresh, early impulse toward experimental music that runs from The Beatles and Sgt. Pepper's spreads out in folky psychedelia, bittersweet youthful feeling, and an innocent love of music that tugs at the heart.
Includes an 8-page booklet (LP-sized) detailing the band's history and behind-the-scenes stories, along with interviews with the band members. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
