Asynchrone is a six-piece band led by Frédéric Sourard, the keyboardist for the French jazz, post-rock, and instrumental band Limousine and for Maestro (released on Tigersuchi), who is known as the “Mad Scientist” and is involved in various projects as a producer and engineer. The set opens with a cover of “Plastic Bamboo”—an early signature track featured on Ryuichi Sakamoto’s first album *A Thousand Knives* and a staple of YMO’s live repertoire—followed by “River of Hope,” “Neue Tanz/New Dance,” , “Thatness And Thereness” from B2-Unit, and finally “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence.” The album is brimming with love for “Ryuichi Sakamoto’s experimental musical explorations.” The performances are superb.
