Previously released under his solo name, this time it's credited to a trio — and the other two members are remarkable as well! Philippe Melanson is an electronic percussionist who has also appeared on albums by Sam Gendel and Joseph Shabason. Ryan Driver spins chords and melodies on a Wurlitzer electric piano, throwing Chenaux's trademark fried guitar solos and vocals into even sharper relief. Ryan's solo album "Careless Thoughts" was in fact released on Apres-Midi Records, the label produced by Toru Hashimoto. With these two singular talents from the Toronto/Canada scene on board, the record was cut at Chenaux's studio in the French countryside.
Deploying ring modulation, old-school fuzz guitar and all manner of techniques, it never gets fussy — instead the gorgeous melodies and the spaces between them shine through. A masterpiece!
