An intriguing collection of live session recordings made using traditional instruments from Africa, Oceania and the Americas held in the collection of none other than the British Museum! British-Jamaican artist SATCH HOYT performed on site at the museum in October 2023, recording improvisations without any written scores. Built around the concept of sonic restoration, these 10 tracks set the instruments' halted time back in motion.

Growing out of a recording session project held at the British Museum in London in October 2023, here comes "Un-Muting," a fascinating 10-inch conceived not as a music album but as a diagram! Improvised performances using, by special permission, traditional African instruments that had been put on display in the British Museum and thereby stripped of their original function of being played. Those recordings were then brought back to the studio and re-edited, developed further with overdubs of Western instruments from the artist's own collection — a work of sound art.
