The first installment of the MIX series from "MOMENTOS"—an event centered on the concept of WORLD MUSIC and organized by .A.K.A.M., currently taking place at the SOUNDSYSTEM BAR “88block” in Takadanobaba—is set to be released with support from SIDEDISH (HOODISH) and CROSSPOINT! A 60-minute musical journey through the world by AREN, who serves as “MOMENTOS Resident D.”

AREN
福岡出身、24歳。彼女の選曲はアフリカンなリズムや南米のグルーヴ、カリビアンのヴァイブス、中東の旋律、そしてアジアのフレーバーをシームレスに織り交ぜたグローバルかつトライバルな音の旅のようだ。
機械的なリズムにオーガニックな質感が共存し、既存のジャンルや国境に囚われず、世界中の音楽遺産と現代的なサウンドをMIXさせることで新たな文脈を提示する。
DOPE yet elegant.
Influenced by her parents, she became familiar with traditional music such as gamelan from a young age. The sounds that resonated in Ubud, Bali—the “Island of the Arts”—where her parents took her, and the shadows of dancers cast by hundreds of candles lining the walls undoubtedly left a deep impression on her.
The darkness is deep, yet the almost magical allure it holds evokes the humid, life-nurturing jungle. It seems it’s only been two years since she started “D,” but I look forward to her expressing the essential landscapes found within the good old folk music through a modern groove with powerful bass.
