"Pink Must" is a debut album born from a project that began as a long-distance grunge collaboration, with demos sent back and forth between New York and Texas, then mutated and grew once the pair started working together in Brooklyn in 2023. Wrapped in timeless guitar tones and ethereal Auto-Tuned vocals, it pairs classic songwriting and drum and string arrangements with rough-hewn folk and glitch experimentation—an indie-scene talking point. Nine tracks in all, singing of love, change, decay, and Mari's dog Keith. Shaded with trip-hop and shoegaze, this is grunge distortion filtered through hyperpop, and it hits the spot.
