An all-analog, powerful mix from DJ HELMET, who works out of Yokohama alongside KEIHIN and crew.
"Influenced by the UK techno travelers of the '90s, he started DJing in 2000. In 2004 he opened the record shop [Dbc17] in Yokohama. Alongside that, he served as organizer of the party TEKITTA, inviting the likes of STEVE and Crystal Distorsion (SP23) and carving out a new scene based in Yokohama—honing his own skills in the process and beginning to focus on creating a STYLE all his own. With the question 'What are the possibilities of an ever-evolving new ""electronic music""?' as his keyword, and turntablism as his creed, he builds his mixes by incorporating every technique at his disposal—and that STYLE comes through in full force on this release. Funky beats intertwine in intricate ways in a powerful, dance-filled set that stays exciting throughout, and in the end it's safe to say the result speaks to our hearts on an emotional level. Recently he has been active as a guest DJ at venues including the 2010 Underworld Japan concert @ ageHa, Module Shibuya, Aoyama Hachi, Enoshima OPPA-LA, and outdoor events. Built on ultra-thick bass lines and centered on booty/ghetto sound, this second installment of his all-out mix series hurls the essence of all kinds of music at the club scene!!" *The audio sample is an excerpt from the first half.
