A famed SCORPIONS live recording from Nakano Sun Plaza in 1978, which I was tipped off about by a certain prepared-guitar player from Canada. (Incidentally, the first Scorpions album was produced by Conny Plank.) All 17 tracks — a blazing performance that would take a double LP. The real killer is "Kojo no Tsuki" (The Moon Over the Ruined Castle) in the encore (sample_2). "Ko-jo-no-tsu-kii." Klaus Meine sings it a cappella in Japanese with handclaps, then hands the second verse over to the crowd for a sing-along, complete with heckling. The atmosphere of the concert is irresistible. Not many people actually know the words to the second verse, right? And then let Uli Roth's guitar bring you to tears. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
