From MUSHINTAON, the label behind MUTA's chill-out mix that's been popular at our shop, comes a new mix from DJ KOHAKU! Like MUTA, he's a member of Libra, serving as backing DJ for MSC and playing everything from hardcore hip hop to chill-out at parties centered on Tokyo, earning wide popularity for his uniquely stylish sets. True to its theme of "making old material sound like fresh dance music," this nice mix centers on old school and electro, weaving in his own edits, scratches and doubles while crossing over into recent releases and disco, plus house, beat-down and disco edits, all unfolding with a groovy flow. A record that pulls together a slanted, opinionated selection—free-spirited yet with a firm core, as only a B-boy could do—with KOHAKU's singular taste and skill. *sample1 is an excerpt from the first half, sample2 from the second half.
