This is a cover of “What’s a Feeling,” the song from the moving final scene of one of the greatest American films of the ’80s—a movie where characters express their emotions through dance, filled with surprise and joy as those feelings well up from within. The fresh, unpolished charm, the sincerity, the backing track, and the arrangement—everything is absolutely exquisite. Also included are classic tracks by the Serious Lovers, such as “He’s My God” and “Betrayed.” The skill of Fabian Cooke—who supported WAKIE’S through STUDIO ONE and groups like ITOPIA and WACKIES RHYTHM FORCE, and later won a Grammy Award—is truly remarkable. He handled nearly all the instruments, as well as the dubbing, mixing, and editing—plus production and sound design. LOVE JOYS and SUGAR MINOT also provide backing vocals.
