In the early '80s, gear was far from plentiful, and it's precisely that scarcity that produced this minimal synthesizer work — tracks born of having nothing to rely on but ideas, and they shine all the more lovably for it. Some are poppy and melodic, others avant-garde, but thanks to the shared sense of period and the uniformity of the equipment, it's fascinating how naturally it all crosses over and holds together to today's ears.
