Bolis Pupul is a Belgian musician whose roots trace back to a cartoonist father influenced by Cubism and Pop Art and a Chinese mother. His album with Caribbean-rooted Charlotte Adigéry, a masterpiece tackling themes like racism and sexism, has been a big favorite here at the shop. Psychedelic meditation and slow dance dwelling in the bubbly worlds of Hong Kong and Macau, the so-called Las Vegas of Asia. It also recalls the synthesizer electronics and China-themed vibe that Y.M.O. once put forward. Karma, and the mysteriousness of human beings.
