DANIEL TERUGGI, the great figure who served as director of the GRM (France's electronic music research institute) for roughly 20 years from 1997 and now devotes himself to preserving electroacoustic music, released the two-part work "Syrcus - Sphœra" on CD in 1993 — and now the latter half gets its first-ever vinyl reissue! Taking Socratic philosophy as its theme, it focuses on the materiality of sound. A work of electronic sculpture that stimulates spatial perception through sound alone.

The latest release from RECOLLECTION GRM, the joint venture between INA-GRM and EDITIONS MEGO that has been unearthing and reissuing great electroacoustic works! After earning a degree in electroacoustic composition from the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM), DANIEL TERUGGI joined Ina-GRM in 1981. A specialist in computer-generated music, he went on to head pedagogy for SYTER (a system for digital conversion and synthesis), and this electronic music master's first published CD work, "Sphæra," released as a series of pieces in 1993, is now reissued on vinyl! Divided into four sections, the work explores proprioception and metaphysical music grounded in Socratic philosophy. Beyond its heady theme, the spatial sound construction — which lets you locate your own position through sonic perception alone — is nothing short of astonishing. Mastered by GIUSEPPE IELASI of BELLOWS. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
