Kyoto-based Kukangendai, who in recent years have put out records on overseas labels and self-released, deliver their first original album on a Japanese label in 11 years! Their stoic signature sound, built on polyrhythms and more, is expanded even further here, with all three members freely intersecting. Bass that wanders the razor's edge between no wave and funk, guitar tones bleeding with color, drums that deconstruct rhythm. This is a sound with an openness only a band could achieve, and one that deserves to reach as many listeners as possible in times like these.
