Kink Gong has released the "Ethnic Minority Music" series on Sublime Frequencies, recordings of Cambodian minority music on Sub Rosa, and his own works on labels such as Discrepant and Akuphone. The name comes from the gong, one of the key instruments in Asian folk music "kink" (twisted, bent) gong. He traveled to Tanzania in 1999-2000, around the time he began researching Asian ethnic minorities, and this is the sequel to "Tanzania," a sound collage built from his recordings of the Hadza of the Serengeti Plain one of the world's few remaining peoples still living a traditional hunter-gatherer life and the Makonde of Mozambique.
