This release is the reissue of a legendary cassette produced for "Ikebukuro Cyber Cafe," an event organized by Yuji Takahashi at a space run by Art Vivant (Seibu). It documents a collaboration between Yuji Takahashi and Mamoru Fujieda using Mac-based computer systems (*1), recorded by Taku Sakurai at the home of Minao Shibata. Guided by unwavering conviction, the album captures baffling masses of sound in which sampled sources controlled by Takahashi on the Mac intersect with the audio system and FM synthesis (*2) operated by Fujieda in MAX. Takahashi's words in the original event pamphlet—"within the shimmering time of everyday life, the semi-transparent coordinate axes of a dark cyber space flicker in and out of view like a heat haze"—suggest he may have been possessed by something cyber-occult. And was it a prophecy when he told a magazine at the time, "The people who didn't come matter too. You weren't there, but later you learn that something apparently happened. From that image, something entirely different can emerge"? The period in which reason-based contemporary music intersected with this shady cyber-occult world was extremely brief, and this album is an underground historical document of 〈what perhaps should never have been left behind〉.
