ARNO VÖLKER, a key figure in the French minimal house scene, drops a release on Mexico's Elision Imprint! Includes a remix by DEWALTA, boss of the Berlin-based quality minimal house label MEANDER.

ARNO VÖLKER wears many hats: resident at Robert Johnson, running PRESSURE TRAXX, and a member of EINZELKIND, who heads up LA PEÑA. Under the ARNO alias, this multi-talented producer has kept up a strong run of releases on Cabanne's POLYSON, HALF BAKED and more — and here he delivers a minimal house EP. A1. Motorbass (Sample 1), with bass rumbling like a tremor, rides a nearly three-minute breakdown to killer effect. Also included is A2. A Bass Day (Transcendental Mix) (Sample 2), DeWalta's remix that transforms the melancholic, resonant melody of B1. A Bass Day (Original Mix) (Sample 3) into something airy and warm with light pads.

Did you say, Dance? Arno opens the release with Motorbass, a constantly shifting groover revolving around percussive bliss. Breaks, melodic motifs and a sultry vocal stab are flipped to seamlessly blend the evocative arrangement of this driving bass journey.

DeWalta’s Transcendental Mix of A Bass Day builds on a rhythmic shuffle while euphoric melodies, finessed voices and distant cymbal splashes swirl with playful pulses of bass throughout.

A Bass Day surges forward with a droning, meditative, pulsating low-end. Arno smoothly evolves key piano moments into echoing dub-laden abstractions that oscillate with the steady metre of building hats and bouncing drums.
