Robert Bergman has been busy of late, appearing at Dekmantel Festival and on the electronic music media platform Mutant Radio, plus releases on a string of renowned outsider labels. "3 Am" (Sample 1), 121 BPM raw techno that carries over the appeal of industrial, primitive machine sound while reimagining it in an imaginary, contemporary key, looks set to get played across a wide range of floors. "#5" (Sample 2) at 119 BPM pairs cheap electronics with a rounded texture and builds the floor up a notch, while "Drum Trax" (Sample 3) at 125 BPM works a densely abstract texture and hard DIY machine sound — both strike an exquisite balance in the way sounds drop in and out across minimal arrangements.
