Shush Vol. 1, an EP on the label started by the Berlin-based sound system, party, and community Shush, features six artists: Stefan Ringer (Atlanta), Whodat (Detroit), Ziggy Zeitgeist (Melbourne), D' monK (London), DWELLER (London), AMA // MIZU (Berlin). Six artists I checked out on Stefan Ringer, Zeitgeist, etc., but didn't know their names, but they sound great and deserve attention. Recommended.

Berlin-based dance night and sound system SHUSH present their first musical offering: six soulful tracks that encapsulate the unique spirit of their functions and underlying community. Atlanta house ambassador Stefan Ringer lends his touch on deep vocal cut ‘Focus’, electronic jazz maestro Ziggy Zeitgeist serves up the late-night coaster ‘Yours To Make’ (feat. Jitwam), whilst SHUSH’s own D’Monk deals the dubbed-out damage of ‘Love Or Lust’, a raw house cut heavy on the 909s. Alongside them, producer Whodat offers a slapper in her own distinctive Detroit-style, AMA//MIZU comes with an introspective downbeat roller whilst Dweller presents one of his stunning orchestral works.

Stefan Ringer, a US underground house personality who has been hooked by everyone from PPU to Black Acre and EGLO in recent years, delivers a good stoned-soul tune, and A2 is by D'Monk, a London artist who has worked on tracks for Dweller and AMA///MIZU. MIZU, and seems to be a major artist on the label along with AMA// MIZU. The sound is cool and seems to be located in the flow of London's jazz, hip-hop, new jazz, and dub and sound system culture. Ziggy Zeitgeist of Melbourne's Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange is electronic fusion, with contributions from Jitwam and others, while Whodat, perhaps influenced by Theo Parrish and others, is a female DJ with a sense of ghetto and personality. Whodat, who has made a name for herself as a unique female DJ, is a Detroit-style DJ with raw 909 machine beats. AMA // MIZU label also offers jazzy, experimental, low house, beatdown, and breakstep.
