From the debut album of Thee Marloes, a group from Surabaya whose sound blends elements of local Indonesian culture with influences from American soul, R&B, jazz, and pop. Their performance during last year’s tour in Japan was also fantastic. After the show, when I told Natasha, the vocalist and keyboardist, that I loved the beautiful blend of soul, gospel, and R&B in the tracks “Over” and “Not Today,” she replied, “Those are my favorites too!”—and I’ll never forget the smile on her face… I’m so happy that these two particularly moving tracks—which were my personal favorites from the album—are being highlighted.
