This is Osunlade’s new album, his first vinyl release since 2021’s “Aché” on Yoruba Soul. Osunlade explores African rhythms, deep sounds that resonate with the inner mind, and spiritual dance. The album includes “Luv,” a tribute to the late Shirley Chisholm—a politician, educator, and author who, in the 1970s, became the first African American woman to run for president—as well as tracks celebrating house music. Kicking the set off is Wiggle Room, this tune begs the attention to vocal rhythms dancing alongside strings and congas while you make space on the dance floor. Following is PASS!! Which comes hard and slow. Hang Nail, a cute ditty phasing into middle eastern tones while spanking electronic beats that sear your earhole. An ode to classic deep house, Luv delivers that good feel happy place with its inviting chords and sultry vocal. She Represents is as deep as they come.heavy on the 303, a kick to die for, this one a tribute to Shirley Chisholm and includes excerpts from a legendary speech. Poseidon brings the pace up with heavy cadences & basses while dark synths wave about., a foot stomper. Lo fi, again is an ode to old school with plush melodies & driving rhythms. Second to last we have So Long…Stranger, a deep techy ditty which concept derives from the absence of connection during the pandemic.
