A split release under two aliases of visual artist Ryohei Minami: "Minzoku M" and "DOBUTSU." A phenomenon, however small, is one link in an unbroken, infinite chain — a chain stretching from past to future, passing from one domain to another. At times it appears as a visible physical phenomenon; at other times it vanishes from view as a phenomenon of consciousness. And within the complex, vast world of phenomena lies hidden its infinite essence (the noumenon), bound up with the whole world. Wherever a phenomenon exists, there necessarily lurks the essence of the thing-in-itself — that "object conceivable only as an object of the intellect" which forms the wellspring of that flow. Minami, as a visual artist, took a deep interest in this concept, swimming alongside the inescapable, invisible noumenon and deliberately playing with unstable representations, producing monochrome paintings around the end of 2024. Around the same time, he perceived an indeterminate flow in sounds not self-generated — recordings of various friends' instruments and equipment glitches, field recording data and the like — and found himself applying the same play of representation to the transition into the infinite phenomena yet to come. That was the beginning: cutting up that data, layering microphones, stacking synths like drawing lines, the results emerged as beat-oriented pieces and collage pieces, giving birth to this split release under the double aliases "Minzoku M" and "DOBUTSU."
