Blue Chopsticks - Cat No: BC35
- updated:2025-09-11
The self-titled debut from experimental supergroup Bitterviper arrives on 〈Blue Chopsticks〉, distributed by Drag City. Featuring David Grubbs (piano/guitar), Taku Unami (synthesizer), Sarah Hennies (percussion), and Nikos Veliotis (cello), this is a minimal yet dense ensemble born of the experience and experimental spirit of four musicians who have long stood at the forefront of avant-garde music.
Track List

At the invitation of Greek cellist Nikos Veliotis, known for his work in MMMD, a quartet was formed with David Grubbs, the musician familiar as a core member of Gastr del Sol; Sarah Hennies, the NY-based percussionist/composer who has released work on 〈Blume〉, 〈Black Truffle〉, and 〈New World Records〉; and Taku Unami, an improviser/composer who has also worked as an engineer on countless records. The album was reportedly built from source material Veliotis sent to each member — four multi-tracked psychoacoustic experiments. Evoking the resonance of the Gastr del Sol era, MMMD's horror-film soundtrack work, and sci-fi-like scores, it's a record that draws you into uncharted territory. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
