A collaborative album from Belgian banjo duo POOR ISA, improv master saxophonist EVAN PARKER, and percussionist INGAR ZACH! Prepared banjo with a delicacy of tone reminiscent of the lute, paired with sax. Propulsive percussion lends the pieces their dynamics. Each instrument resonates through a conversational process. Spanning the introspective to the energetic, this expands the territory of improvised music.

Banjo unit POOR ISA (RUBEN MACHTELINCKX and FREDERIK LEROUX), who have long taken an approach blending tradition and experimentation centered on prepared banjo and minimal exploration, made this record with saxophonist EVAN PARKER, a leading figure in European free improvisation, and Norwegian percussionist INGAR ZACH. Prepared banjos, soprano and tenor saxophones, and percussion incorporating vibrating speakers resonate together. From "Clearing," which uses the banjo percussively while exploring reed harmony, to "Two Way" (sample1), which probes resonance through dynamic minimal loop playing, the album offers a flexible framework.
