Fire of God’s Love is the legendary 1973 album by Australian nun Sister Irene O’Connor—a sincere, soulful, and unconsciously psychedelic song sequence devoted to self reflection and awakening the spirit within. A collection of original folk spirituals written by and channelled through O’Connor with guitar, electric organ, drum machine and her angelic voice, the album was recorded and mixed in an astonishingly futuristic fashion by fellow nun and recording engineer Sister Marimil Lobregat. This edition from Freedom To Spend is the first authorized reissue of this holy grail since 1976; the album restored and remastered with love from the best available sources by Jessica Thompson. This audiophile quality pressing includes lengthy liner notes and an 18-page lyric booklet.
This is an album by Sister Eileen O'Connor, produced by a Catholic broadcaster and released by Philips in Australia in 1973 and by a Roman Catholic label in Ohio, USA in 1976. It was a two-person production with Sister Marimir Lobregat. The charm of Eileen O'Connor's singing, LO-FI drum machine, electric organ, guitar and the acoustics of the reverb feeling, and mix work. Exquisite, with musical surprises throughout, spiritual, and the more sincere, the more charming and funny. Several bootlegs have existed, but this is an authorized reissue, restored and remastered from the best surviving sources by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson, who is known for her restoration work. This lovingly reissued work comes with detailed liner notes and an 18-page lyrics booklet. This is the kind of music that soothes people's hearts and brings world peace.
