The third installment from GEMS, which has been unearthing UK underground house from the mid-90s through the 2000s, focusing on the PAGAN and WIGGLE scenes.

The Spacebunny tracks were originally released on Surreal Recordings back in 1996, the original mix being licensed to Danny Tenaglia's Twisted Secrets (vol2), since then it has become a party classic with original copies changing hands for over £100 on discogs.
The Mingers "Fancy A Shag" track was released in 2002 on Deeper London (a subsidiary of Surreal Recordings) with a limited press of only 200 copies. The track is floor filler and was often one that would kick things off in the early stages of the night, featuring big tribally beats, a fat funky bass and emotive strings.

In addition to Swag—an artist who was already making a name for himself at the time—there were Spacebunny and The Mingers, projects by Mike Parsons, who ran the sub-label Surreal alongside Paul Stubbs of *Swag Records*, one of the key names in 1990s UK tech house. The track “Space Bunny.” It features the original track along with remixes by Terry Francois of WIGGLE and Nathan Coles of Housey Doingz. The original was selected by Danny Tenaglia for a compilation at the time and was also included in the 2024 compilation released by 〈Sushitech〉 featuring tracks from Strangeweather Studios, London. The original EP is a highly sought-after release that’s sure to fetch over 10,000 yen if in good condition.
The B-side is “Fancy A Shag,” released in 2003 by The Mingers—a project by Mike Parsons and Timmy S.—featuring basslines and breakbeats reminiscent of UK garage. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
