I’m also really drawn to the wonderful artwork by the familiar NONCHELEEE and the lovingly crafted, meticulously designed insert lyric sheet. It’s a cute, unique, and fresh 7-inch gem that ties in with NONCHELEEE’s latest 7-inch single, “Nama-sakana.”
This led to the GROUND BEAT scene of the late ’80s to early ’90s, as well as the RARE GROOVE/ACID JAZZ movements—all stemming from the underground UK SOUL movement of the early to mid-’80s, STREET SOUL (characterized by reggae-derived bass and drum machine beats, synth sounds, and a blend of SOUL/R&B, BRIT FUNK, and REGGAE/LOVERS ROCK), this is a hidden gem of a Japanese-language lovers’ rock track—a sophisticated blend of urban mellow R&B, disco, reggae, and boogie soul.
For this 7-inch release, MAH (Green Massive / Little Tempo) re-recorded the bass, a different vocal take from the album was used, and producer Hatayoung himself handled the remix, giving the track a fresh sound for 2026. The B-side features the exquisite instrumental version of “Apricot Love” (sample 2), where Hatayoung’s refreshing keyboard and synth sounds float in a dreamy, fantastical atmosphere.
