Format

12inch 2990 JPY

A sound space saturated with noise — a paranoid analog-electronics oddity driven by drum machine. Ten years ago HEARTPLAY put out two self-released records that got picked up by the likes of RANSOM NOTE, then vanished without a word, remaining a mystery ever since — and now they're back with a new set of DIY lo-fi techno born of a deep arsenal of analog gear and a punk spirit. Live jams recorded direct to cassette tape.

Dig around on Discogs and you're bounced to a web page that's a little too bare-bones, offering nothing more than a terse profile blurb — truly a mysterious artist. This is the first new work in ten years from PATRICK, aka HEARTPLAY. "Kill Your Idols" (sample1) is lo-fi techno that pushes through on a minimal framework of noise-clouded space and raw drum machine. The flip is "Quallentanz" (sample2), ambient drone with a cosmic worldview. Vinyl-only release, of course. What on earth is this? (Original Japanese text by Akie)
