Recommended Album. Using the early Casio Tone keyboard “CT-201,” the artist reconstructs Ethiopian folk melodies with his own unique sensibility. *Resonance of Time*, a landmark recording that symbolizes the 1980s cassette tape era, is now available on vinyl for the first time! The soulful, lo-fi character of the keyboard combines with “kignit”—a unique Ethiopian melodic style—to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. The nostalgic beats from the rhythm machine are also delightful.
Track List

Originally recorded and released in 1984 by Ethiopia’s “Axum Music Shop,” this rare cassette album has now been remastered and released on vinyl for the first time! Featuring a wide selection of historic Ethiopian music—from Amharic folk songs and lullabies beloved across generations, to Tigrinya love songs, and tracks that defined the golden age of 1970s popular music—this album presents a fresh interpretation of these timeless classics. Driven by a deep trust in Ethiopia’s unique melodic style and the melodies themselves, the performance—featuring a solid lineup of Casio Tone and a rhythm machine—clearly conveys the intention to present those “melodies” that seem to float through time. This masterpiece—a miracle born precisely during a turning point in Ethiopian music history marked by the advent of tape recording and electronic keyboards—serves as a milestone in the transmission of Ethiopian musical heritage. We invite you to experience the joy of listening to this on vinyl. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
