Tobias Freund has made his mark on techno history through numerous aliases and projects, including Tobias., NSI, and Pink Elln. He covers songs by acts such as This Heat, Suicide, Heaven 17, The Residents, and Harold Budd/Brian Eno, with each track featuring friends like Argenis Brito (B1), Gudrun Gut (B2), Atom™ (B3), and others. On "Plenty Of Time With Nothing To Do", Tobias Freund expands on the concept introduced with Tobias. & Friends – TOP TEN, reshaping selected late-70s and 80s works by The Human League, This Heat, Japan, Suicide, Heaven 17, and Harold Budd & Brian Eno.
Rather than traditional covers, these are re-productions: stripped down, restructured and rebuilt at Non Standard Studios in Berlin. The album moves between minimal electronics, spacious rhythm constructions and subtle club undercurrents, focusing on reduction and atmosphere rather than nostalgia.
A diverse group of vocalists — including Pink Elln, Gudrun Gut, Barbie Williams, Argenis Brito, Atom™, and others — reinterprets the material with distinct presence, making each track feel intimate and newly situated.
Cut by Mike Grinser at Manmade Mastering and released on Non Standard Productions (NSP 25), the record continues Freund’s personal dialogue with electronic music history — restrained, precise and unmistakably his own.
