Damian Dalla Torre, an up-and-coming ambient artist, presents his latest work from 2026—a unique approach that combines field recordings and fragmented performances like an archive. A collage of environmental sounds from his travels, including birdsong in Leipzig, the sound of rain recorded in Kobe, and the crackling of fire in the Italian mountains at an altitude of 2,500 meters. . It features ambient-like pauses and a sense of time, evoking a fantastical world reminiscent of Jon Hassell’s *Fourth World*. It’s a soundscape that could be called “post-post-classical.”
The sounds of the vibraphone and marimba by Volker Heuken—winner of the Leipzig Jazz Newcomer Award—are striking, as is the guitar playing of Bertram Burkert, a rising star of the German jazz scene.
