THOMA BULWER, a UKG master who has also made a name for himself as a studio engineer and garnered attention with releases like BEN UFO’s “Real Love EP,” is making a comeback with his long-awaited solo single after a string of split releases and collaborations! He showcases a unique garage sound, featuring a minimalist approach woven around two key elements: a shuffling two-step rhythm and a bassline that seems to float.
Born in the Netherlands, raised in Brussels, and based in London, THOMA BULWER is a multi-talented artist who began his career as a UK garage DJ and is now active as a mastering engineer. He has also worked as a producer across numerous popular labels such as SEVEN HILLS, EYA, and YoY—and now he’s released a new solo project! Inspired by his experiences at “Freerotation” in Wales, the garage track “Bits ’n’ Bobs” (sample 1)—featuring finely woven shuffle drums—also boasts an addictive, melodic acid bassline. The minimal garage track “Work It” (sample 2), centered around a comically bouncy bass loop, is also unique.
