Mexican-Jamaican artist Andy Martin discovered an a cappella track by Gavsborg, a heavyweight in the Jamaican dancehall scene, and created an unofficial edit titled “Plato & Caves.” This track was later endorsed by Gavsborg himself, and reportedly, this recognition served as the catalyst for him to establish Mole Audiow in order to release the track.

The original version A1, “Plato & Caves (Original Version),” blends steppers with dub techno (sample1)
A powerful remix (b1) “Plato & Caves (Dub War Remix)” (sample2) by the legendary South London unit Dub War, featuring dub-techno minimalism that creates a hypnotic, ritualistic atmosphere with sticky beat breaks and spatial soundscapes, and b2 “Plato & Caves (Mad Magnetism Version)” (sample 3), a completely newly recorded minimal house dub-style remix by Andy Martin himself—also great!!

Straddling the line between dub and techno, this long-awaited new 12-inch release from Mole Audio—the up-and-coming label helmed by Berlin’s maverick Didier Dlb aka Turmspringer, who has been consistently delivering great releases—marks the label’s historic debut: a 4-remix EP of Andy Martin ft. Gavsborg “Plato & Caves.” (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
