We have in stock *Lovers Leap Showcase*, a reissue of BIM SHERMAN’s landmark second album, featuring all tracks in dub versions! Blending Jamaican roots reggae with cutting-edge British dub sounds, this masterpiece offers a deep dive into the artist’s Jamaican roots—a period before he became one of ON-U-SOUND’s signature singers—centering on his voice, which carries a sense of vulnerability and sweetness, and the spirit of roots reggae.
Track List
The rhythm section features top-tier musicians such as the ROOTS RADICS and SOUL SYNDICATE. Recorded at RANDY’S and CHANNEL ONE, this album showcases mixing work directly in the tradition of KING TUBBY’S STUDIO, with JAMMY serving as engineer. Unlike the experimental dub sounds he produced after moving to the UK, this album compiles early recordings from around 1975–78 that were centered on his own vocals, melodies, and the spirit of roots reggae. Rather than the avant-garde production of his later years, this album features simple, soft rhythms and sounds that bring out the best in his wavering vocals and melancholic melodies. The rough, gritty texture of the sound actually adds to its charm. Even without years of experimental work, his unique personality shines through vividly in his voice and delivery.
