In response to a call from original member Kinichi Mogi, former Fishmans member HAKASE-SUN and engineer zAk, along with Keigo Oyamada, Yumiko Ohno (Buffalo Daughter), Yuji Katsui, Tabito Nanao, Hanaregumi, Ikuko Harada (Crambon), BOSE (Scha Dara Parr), Etsuko Yakushimaru (Relativity Theory), and others have come together for Shinji Sato’s posthumous work, “A Piece of Future.” This 2-LP vinyl set includes the “2012 Version” (A1)—a 13-minute-and-18-second track updated by zAk earlier this year—as well as the 9-minute-and-46-second “2012 Radio Version,” an ambient meditation mix by Ryuichi Sakamoto (head of the release label commmons), a 7-minute-14-second sound art mix by Tetsuya Umeda, who creates various live works as a sound artist; a 5-minute-13-second track; and an electric, techno-infused 10-minute-16-second “Bliss Mix” by Takkyu Ishino of Denki Groove—making this a release on a vinyl set that goes beyond “luxurious.” To top it all off, the artwork is by EYE of Boredoms—the perfect finishing touch.
