Jon Dasilva, the heavyweight who served as a resident during the Hacienda's golden era, launches a new project! It appears to be a unit with Stockholm musician Jonas Nillson, based where Dasilva now lives, unfolding with 80s-flavored old-school electro beats, piano riffs and heavily effected vocal snippets. The A-side "Tuff Beat" rides a round yet fat groove that hits you below the waist, while the B-side "Yessir" pitches things up with a bouncing beat, its contrast between airy cowbells and heavy synth stab bass making for a fun listen. Old school and new wave, plus cosmic/Balearic touches and even some deep house elements — a pretty interesting release, we think.
