SPARKY was the cult electro alias of Glasgow's DAVE CLARK (not DAVE CLARKE), who in the '90s worked in a unit called STATE OF FLUX and left this material on Generations, the demo-tape label under R&S. In the 2000s he went solo as TRUFFLE CLUB, releasing on labels such as OPTIMO's, but separately from that, this title track "PORTLAND" — originally offered up as the opening cut on the first compilation from STUFF RECORDS, the outfit you could call the forerunner of fellow Glasgow imprint NUMBERS — is now reissued! It all started when Ricardo confided to someone involved that he was a huge fan of the track: across this 2LP set, sides A/B hold the original, while C/D are given over entirely to a deeeep reconstruction running more than 30 minutes.
