An exclusive heavyweight pressing from the prestigious VINYL FACTORY, capturing the sound gallery installation and improvised performance by Boredoms' core member HISHAM AKIRA BHAROOCHA and PATTEN (who has released on WARP)!!
Recorded at the opening-night performance on June 30 as part of "STATION TO STATION," the exhibition curated and hosted over roughly a month at London's Barbican Centre by American contemporary artist DOUG AITKEN. The A-side offers seven short tracks, including "Water" (sample1) and "Somni" (sample2), drawn from an installation that gathered countless instruments — the hum and noise of the space, the sounds of visitors moving through the gallery — and collaged drums on top. The B-side is given over entirely to "One Take" (sample3), a deeply focused improvisation to savor from start to finish! A wonderful recording in which multi-percussion that conjures silence, along with organic minimalism from piano and vibraphone, sends sound images drifting by to soothe the listener's mind. Recommended!!
