FABIO MONESI of Italy, whose "Nautilus"-sampling new track "Pipe Dreams" on his own 〈WILSON〉 quietly became a favorite, now delivers the 9th release on 〈HARDMOON LONDON〉 — the label he runs, nominally, under his HISSMAN alias. "Jamie" (sample1) is a cool cut, with faintly whispered, teasing vocals riding a house-oriented bassline steeped in a monochrome, raw atmosphere, while "Long Island" (sample2) makes its impact with spiraling synths that climb and descend — throughout, the grooves just keep rolling in the best way. On "Abduction" (sample3), the first collaboration under GRAVITANT CUTURE, a new project with Italian producer MATTIA FAVARETTO (who works under names like STEVE MURPHY and THE NIGHT FLYER), he serves up an electro cut with an ephemeral sound. Highly recommended, as always.
