I kept the previous album, "Ammi-Majus: Grand Gouter," on repeat — among the various LE SAULE releases packed with eccentric talents, it stood out as contemporary chanson marked by warm guitar. This one plays like an omen of "Feigen Feigen." Collage and recitation, mimetic words ∞ onomatopoeia and minimalism, plus the distant resonance of ethnic instruments. The way non-Western timbres and melodies are collaged and put to painterly use owes nothing to dance-music methods; it follows in the lineage of the Saravah catalogue and French avant-garde music. Avant-chanson with Indian santoor and bagpipes flying about. It feels like witnessing an extreme example of how "song" might evolve from the 2010s onward.
