In recent years, maverick producer RYAN JAMES FORD has linked up with labels pushing techno beyond its established boundaries, such as SHAPED NOISE's 〈REPITCH〉 and Bristol's 〈HAPPY SKULL〉 — and now he drops his latest work on his own label 〈SHUT〉!

The fifth release on 〈SHUT〉, the self-run label of Berlin-based Canadian producer RYAN JAMES FORD, who debuted on MARCEL DETTMANN's 〈MDR〉 and has also released on ANSWER CODE REQUEST's 〈ACR〉 and more! Recommended cuts: "Public Domain" (sample1), which moves from a first half where minute electronics and vocal shots float dubbily into a jump-up of weird, ravey distorted synth riffs; and, as on the previous release, "Aylith Yard" (sample2), building up from low, submerged bass through broken rhythms and breakbeats into a highlight of soft synth work that feels like light breaking over a dark floor! Also cool is "The Value of Nothing" (sample3), a majestic synthesizer orchestration melting in field recordings of bustling crowds over busy, high-speed neo-rave hard breaks! 5 tracks in all.
