Alongside Mario Galeano of FRENTRE CUMBIERO, the long-awaited new album from MERIDIAN BROTHERS—the main project of Eblis Alvarez, the genius who helped shape the music scene in Bogotá, Colombia—has finally arrived after a three-year hiatus! The title “Cumbia Siglo XXI” pays homage to the sci-fi cumbia band “Cumbia Siglo XX,” which is said to have existed in the 1980s. Building on the more electrified, electronic approach of their previous album Donde estás María? (released on SOUNDWAY), the band has expanded the multi-layered, three-dimensional depth of their ensemble, rhythms, and spatiality, forging a unique sonic vision. Colombia’s rich history, mythology, and romance. ...all tightly condensed and released as a vibrant sonic vibe. Scenes. Psychedelia. MERIDIAN BROTHERS. (Original Japanese text by Saito)
