"Lololi-Lomko," the single from the 1983 masterpiece album "Ayo Specia" by Ghanaian singer/drummer/percussionist MAWULI DECKER, who played in numerous African highlife bands back home in Ghana, gets a beautifully done 7-inch reissue, pairing the original version with a floor-ready edit by Renegades of Jazz, one of the AGOGO label's flagship artists.
The A-side original version (sample1), brimming with refreshing synths, vocals and expansive, feel-good guitar, is superb in itself, but the B-side "Lololi-Lomko - Renegades of Jazz Edit" (sample2) — reworked for the dancefloor with beefed-up breakbeats and groove by RENEGADES OF JAZZ, David Hanke's Afro-Caribbean breakbeat/jazz-funk crossover project that, alongside MOP MOP, became one of the AGOGO label's signature acts — is exquisitely groovy too. The 23rd release in MATASUNA's ongoing run of strong reissues.
