Amid growing interest in Japanese 80s music, this classic album—which garnered significant attention following the reissue of MARIAH—has now been reissued on vinyl overseas to great acclaim. “Takada explored the theme of ‘how the body reacts to time, the body itself, and turning inward,’ playing a variety of instruments—including the marimba, gong, cowbell, ocarina, tam-tams, a foot-operated organ, clay bells, a Coke bottle, cymbals, a vibraphone, and piano—all played by Takada alone—and completed through multiple layers of overdubbing.” The content is, as expected, a magnificent work that deserves to be reevaluated today. With highlights such as the poly-minimal “Crossing” and the 15-minute “Catastrophe Σ,” which takes you on a deep, immersive journey, this is a wonderful album that you absolutely must listen to.
