Following the acclaimed 2019 mix "MORE TODAY THAN YESTERDAY" on ARROUND Wicked Sound Maker and Vol.1 released on his own label in March 2021, the long-awaited second installment of the sweet, laid-back, mellow killer series "Jamaican Souldies" has arrived — DADDY-KAN's inimitable, understated selection and mixing built around the sensuality and soulful melancholy of Jamaican soul oldies from the '50s through the '70s.
いつからだろう”SKA”を聴きたくて集めていた60’sジャマイカ盤７インチの（文字通り）裏に隠された宝物の様な楽曲達の魅力に気付いたのは。そこには底抜けにアップテンポな”SKA”の世界観とは対照的な、人生の悲哀、愛するが故の苦しみ、または純粋に愛する事の素晴らしさ、などをテーマにしたスウィートネス、メロウネスに満ちた楽曲が眠っていました。
同じ物でもひとたび視点を変えるだけで新しい世界が見えてくる、そんなジャマイカン・オールディーズの世界について気付かせてくれたのがDaddy-Kanさんが今年（2021年）初めにリリースしたミックス“Jamaican Souldies vol.1”ではなかったでしょうか。

The second installment in the gem of a mix CD series by DADDY-KAN, selector for the Amigo Gunshot Crew, who has been active mainly in Tokyo since the late '80s and is deeply versed in everything from reggae to soul, rhythm & blues and Latin — here he elegantly weaves together the enchanting sound world of Jamaican souldies (soul + oldies) from the '50s to the '70s.
